The Band

Grass it Up was formed in 2005, when mandolinist David Jeffrey and guitarist Shannon Carr relocated to Colorado and met bassist Jon Bross. The band set about making its mark on the front range region, later adding banjo player Jim Marsh and fiddler David Siegel to the fold in 2010 and 2013, respectively. After a five-year residency at Front Range Barbeque—which soon became a hotspot for nationally-touring roots acts, largely thanks to Grass it Up’s popularizing it as a music venue—the band began receiving even more substantial public notice, performing at the Broadmoor, Keystone Bluegrass, Pueblo Bluegrass at the Fair, Rockygrass, and numerous mountain festivals.
